France Park is an outdoor recreational facility that has plenty of hiking trails, waterfalls and fishing areas. Entrance into the park is $5, per vehicle and has plenty of camping if one desires to do so. During the visit, we saw none of these concentrating on diving at the smaller lake hosted by Indy Dive Center.

The lake is divided into two areas, a beach/swim area and a dive area. Swimming facilities has a few pavilions but a pretty basic set up. The dive shop has rental gear, air fills and a staging area for gear. The staging area is small, cramped, and issued on a first come, first serve basis, but functional. There is a snack shack that has the basics, nothing great but fantastic when post diving and needing to eat something.

Maximum depth of the lake is about 25’, visibility was surprisingly good, but also what you would expect from a Midwest diving location. There are a couple of small training platforms, in 10’ and 20’ of water. The submerged objects are all linked together via ropes, except for the snowmobile. The snowmobile follows the same compass heading as the line going off of the school bus that just ends at a large rock.

The most notable object is Reba McEntire’s stage plane that she used to use during concerts. She retired the use of the plane after her band was killed in a plane crash on March 14, 1991. The owner of the quarry purchased it after it went up to for auction and sunk it, much to McEntire’s disapproval.

All-in-all not a bad place to go diving for the day. Would be interested in seeing some of the hiking trails and trying to see the paddlefish. There are rumors of dime sized freshwater jellyfish living here; however none were seen and the owner said there hasn’t been any in several years.
